I installed a 06 pc3 usb on my 08 dyna..I also put a supertrapp muffler on..I then rode to the car wash and washed the bike real good...The next day I was noticing my red keyfob light coming on,then the batt light came on then the check engine light. Now when I am sitting still these codes pop up and when I start the engine it runs about 10 seconds and quits..Then on the second start I am able to drive home about 13 miles.
I was looking it over this morning and noticed that the tach drops to zero and the bike is still idling, then comes up to about 1500 and the bike is still idling about 1000.(only does this with three trouble lights on,then goes back to normal) I am wondering if I might have just got the ECM plug wet when I washed it..On a dyna the plug is exposed just behind the rear cylinder.
I at first thought the Pc3 might have caused this,so I put everything back original and I am still getting a error code...
I am wanting to take a trip of about 400 miles one way,and thought I would stop by a harley shop to have this checked out..
Does anyone know how I can reset the ECM,in case this is a false code.
I am desperate to know anything and if it will hurt my engine to run in this condition...It still runs fine except for the start failure a couple of times.
When you took the PCIII out of the circuit and reset everything back to stock ECM you did pull the battery leads..yes???? If you did that should have reset the "false" code.
I think I have fixed the problem..These computer plugs seem to be sensitive to the way they are pluged into ECM...First I blew air into the cordplug. Then when I put into the position,it just did not want to square up right..I finaaly had to put some pressure on it,Then pushed on the end ,to make sure it was seated all the way..
Bike has not come up with"bus er" since,so hopefuly,I have saved anouther trip to the shop,,,By the way the dealer told me that if the plug was wet,it would not be covered under waranty..
Now that is scary,,guess they will not do well in rain or car wash.
What about, just pulling main 40 amp fuse,to reset ECM.
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use High pressure water on your motorcycle!!!!!!
You created a Serial Bus communication error by forcing water into a non-watertight system, and you forced the wiring harness back into the ECM..... If it doesn't go in smoothly, then you don't force it... and if you do break something, then you have no claim for a warrenty repair.....
