I have a 2007 FLHX with a 103 setup with 203 cams, Rinehart True Duals and a Screamin' Eagle Air Cleaner with a Power Commander 3 usb. When I bought the bike , I had everything installed prior to delivery. I got it in April 2007. It ran great when i picked it up until I rode it when it got to 75 degrees. I started getting a pinging noise upon acceleration. I had it to the dealer 4 times concerning this noise. After the fourth time, they got the noise out, but the fuel mileage was about 25 MPG. I put the map from power commander 812-034 in and called them to make sure it was ok, they said it was fine. I rode the bike last weekend when it was approximately 60 degrees and the bike ran great, no pinging, real smooth, and I was getting 30 MPG. This weekend the temp. went to 75 degrees and I started getting the pinging. Is this a power commander problem or is the temp. sensor giving me the problem? I really need the help because the dealer has not been able to cure the problem. Thanks.
I had to set my PCIII to -2* after 1750 rpm across the board to get rid of the pinging.(be sure and do both cylinders)
Seems to run fine maybe a little rich now I haven't checked my MPG.
Mine is an 07 UC, the 103 kit raises the Compression a little so it stands to reason the pinging will worsen, especially with the corn liquor fuel we get now.
I have decided against the 103 (for the comp. reason)and will just get cams and maybe flow the heads or buy some Sykes heads.
With out putting it on a Dyno its kinda just guessing. You'll want to figure out what RPM range and throttle position your in when the ping comes on. You can experiment by adding small increments of fuel in these areas or by retarding timing. If I'm not mistaken the rear cylander is usually the culprit here on our beloved '07s. Best o' luck.
