I have had mine since January 2008. They have replaced mine 3 times and I am still having problems. This one works fine for the longest time then randomly, Check Engine Light comes on, after that the Spedo and Tach quits working?? Now they are saying it's a lose battery connnection. They said this on the last ECM but after sending in a monitor file, they said to return the module. I was never stranded and even though the guages stoped working the bike ran fine.
Thundermax support is great but, that can't fix the problem when you are away from home.
Just wondering if I am the only one with the problem. Would love to get it resolved because this thing makes my bike run so much better than the stock ECM.

Have you downloaded the reading to make sure what your head temps are when you get the indicator light? Seconldy, mine did something similar and it turned I did not have the data plug in quite right. Third, I changed turn signals and that caused some error codes to be thrown that caused the indicator lights to come on. Had to have the dealer clear the codes.
Thanks for the reply!
Yes, I did check the Head Temp settings etc. As for the connections, all were secure. The only thing I recall doing different was using my Battery Tender overnight.?
Received a mail from Randy at Zippers Tech Support, telling me to pull the fuse then re-initialize and evaluate. I did all that and we will see how that goes. I cleared the error codes, cleared all Learned Fuel Adjustments, and IACs. So.. starting over with "ECM learning"
I really like the way it runs but... not into changing or constant tweaking. I just want to ride and enjoy. I guess this is really unusual since I am on the 3rd ECM. Previous ones had problems with draining of battery, poor starting. 2nd one had about 5 miles on it and all my gauges stopped working. Zippers said that other than a few tweaks here and there they don't have problems with the units. Using the stock ECM not a single problem in over a year.
Last week I went for a ride after washing my bike, about 35 miles in the engine light came on and the speedo gauge dropped to zero. Same thing the bike ran fine I just had no speedo. I pulled over checked the battery and fuses everything seemed in check. I started the bike and the problem was solved, I assumed I got water somewhere that I shouldn't have. I was on my way to have my biked Dyno'd when it happened, I went ahead with the Dyno and everything is fine.
Losing the gauges is, unfortunately, \\;not uncommon with the newer versions of firmware (4.5 and 4.6). \\; Mine does it occasionally too. \\; Not a big deal, when you stop and cycle the ignition switch off/on they'll come back, maybe do it again 1000 miles later. \\; Zippers knows about it and haven't been able to fix it yet for some reason. \\; Just a hiccup.

Just found this thread...having some issues. My T-Max went in around Nov. Just recentley I've had the Security light and Battery light come on at the same time. Pulled over and reset the ignition and they haven't been on since. Then the other day I had the engine light one, pulled over and reset and it went away. No other issues. Gremlins in the T-Max?
Two years and it only did the engine light and speedo quit once. Kept running fine. Just recycled the switch and nothing since. Runs so good that I'll just wait for the fix. Been so long since it happened, I almost forgot about it until reading this thread.

I just had issues with erratic idle after warmup...IAC Auto and it was good for a few days...I replaced the intake seals...no change...reloaded firmware and map....still no change...went back to the June 08 firmware and reloaded the map and now all seems well. It did run great until I changed to the 12/08 version of firmware. Not sure which versions you are running or when you last updated....maybe something to consider. Good luck.
That is interesting. Presently running the 4.8 which gave you idle problems, but thinking back I had 4.6 when the engine light and speedo went out. So far, I've had no issues with 4.8. However, newer may not always be better. Fix and old glitch and add a new one, possibly.

I agree with the posters who believe it is related to the firmware. I did not experience the problem until in upgraded firmware, not sure what version. Not enough miles yet on the latest version to see how it works. I have always gotten gauges up and running again after turning ignitiion off and then on.
