map sensor question
well i went out this past sunday and got the SE plugs and the SE wires..i put them on sunday while i was at the dealers. i couldnt tell a bit of difference on how it started when i knew the bike was plenty warmed up. the next day i took the bike to work and i couldnt tell and difference when starting it when i knew it was cold. i could tell a difference in the throttle responce and it did wake up some added pep. now i havent tryed starting and then restarting as im afraid it will flood again but this afternoon i went out to leave work ,i started the bike and it kinda couphed from the breather area and like clock work i tryed to restart and it was flooded. i got mad and just held the throttle wide open and just craked the hell out of it and after about 5 or 6 cranks it fire up..i just cant figure whats up with it and the thing is i called 3 dealer and they dont have a clue what it could be so im in no hurry to let them stire around the bike and charge me out the *** to only tell me they dont know..
lol..one more thing..i have pc3 maps that i could put in that bike before and it would pop on decel like crazy but now know matter what map i put in i cant make it pop on decel..it wont pop even when i run it without the pc3...just thought i would throw that out at ya
It's the IAC \\; not letting in air. \\; Take the connector off the IAC motor pinch the female connector closed to make a tighter connection on the spade (male connector) and reinstall the plug.....try that
i\\\\\\;ll do that tomorrow afternoon and i\\\\\\;ll let you know how it goes but so im understanding you, are you saying it might be a loose conection with the IAC
IAC is \\;at a \\;HIGH step count \\;during Cranking and Warmup (More Air)... As the motor increases in temp, the IAC closes (Removing Air....Viewable in SERT/SEST Data Mode).... It's part of the WARMUP ENRICHMENT circuit... Again WB, Take a look at your vast knowledge of EFI.... You have a great deal to learn about a very simple system....
I was refering to the poor connections that Doc knew were common. \\; As he did not have \\;a SERT to log with that would be fairly difficult to spot from his description. \\;Did you bother to ask for a IAC step count? How would he have any idea of the answer without a SERT?

PS Most of the vehicals I deal with are not street legal and are far more high strung than this stuff. An IAC is never installed to save weight.

I do not believe the ecm has any way to directly read the step count off the IAC. All I would expect the sert to tell you is what the IAC position should be which likely would allow the bike to start if it were correct. That it started with the ac off and with throttle makes the iac suspect ie more air started it. Checking connections and continuity is a logical first step.
I found on mine that I could hear the IAC running when I turn the ignition off or hit the kill switch. Watching it on the SEST it stepped the IAC to fully closed then back to half open. When it hit full closed I could hear a rattle as it continued to try to step it then it ran somemore as it moved it back to half open.
