I have an 07 Ultra, with PC3, K&N and Jackpot slipons. If I am in 6th gear with the cruise on climbing hills, I frequently get an engine light. I am cruising at 75 mph or so. These are only slight grades on the hills ( I live in KS ). I have put it in 5th, set the cruise at the same speeds, and not got the light.
Any ideas?
I'm having the same problem. I took mine to the dealer about a month ago and they cleared an error code. ( I can't remember what it was ). I rode less than ten miles and the check engine light came on again. The bike runs fine. I'm taking it back to the dealer today and I'll post when I know more. My ultra is set up simular to the way yours is.
How many miles are on your ultra? Mine has 12k.

Ok. I took it in for the second time. Same thing as the last. The error code was that one of the cylinders was miss firing. They cleared the code and sent me on my way. Check engine light stayed off for about 20 miles., then it started again. Same thing as last time I took it in. This problem started less than 30 days after the warranty expired.
The tech said I should bring it back and leave it. Possible cause could be plug wire or injector. Before I take it back I'm going to check the numbers on the injectors. 06's had a problem with the 8 degree injectors. My ultra is an early 07, purchased in August of 06.
I hope that someone with more knowledge than me chimes in on our problem.

I have heard of people getting codes with non H-D spark plugs, different resistance or something. I am running non H-D plugs. What about you?
Why not try a set of stock plugs, then? The ignition system uses a reading through the plug to monitor the combustion process. I'd use the plugs they specify.
Do you guys think it may be an RPM issue, you said with it in 5th gear you had no problem. Is your cruise allowing your engine to drop too many RPM's while in 6th gear if it does not come on in 5th the RPM's are higher?
