My break light on my 1990 883 sportster is on when i turn the bike on but when i press the break, it does not flash get brighter or have any change...could this be wireeing or just a bad bulb..or the spring in the break cable...does anyone have any suggestions.
On my '85 FXR...here's what I'd do. Don't know if your's is wired up the same way.
Open the grip housing. There's a small switch with a plunger that isengaged by a "flat" on the handle. What you have to realize is that this switch functions counter-intuitively( that's my 25 cent word for today)...when the grip is NOT pulled in i.e.: in normal riding position......the plunger is held down, and contact is prevented. When you pull in the grip, you're allowing the plunger to extend...and thereby allowing internal contact points inside that little switch to energize the brake light.
All ist Klar...???????
Hope this helps, if just a little bit.
