Blub was blown - so new one is installed. Now I see the element does not light up? I don't have books yet.. Is there a relay I should check? where is is located? Anybody else ever have brake light failure?

I have a 92 and fought with one for awhile and found 2 things.One was a loose connection on the switch itself and a bad switch to follow.The switch is very visible on the right side .The 2 spade connectors were replaced and a new switch was installed.I ended up bleeding the brakes also .If it is not one of the 2 .it could be the brake relay which is just above the switch on the outer fender,which is also easy to see and get to.Also make sure that the bulb contacts are clean...could be a reason the bulb "blew" ,short ?? I would try the 3 easy checks first .The nice thing about our year models are that they are easy to work on andf trouble shoot and most everything is easily accessible.

I just got through changing the switch which is in the housing. My back brake lights were not working. The switch was not making connection, and I had to replace it.
