Hello, there are no concerns as far as the retrofit unit. Dynojet only offers the PC V and support for 2009 models, however Fuel Moto offers the 07-08 unit as a retrofit unit (with Dynojets approval) and we provide warranty and support on them. There are differences in the map formats as well as mounting procedure from PC III. There are some very good positives with the PC V, especially it's much smaller size.
Jamie,
Can the PC V be mounted like the PC III behind the fender next to the siren module on 07-08 Softails? I sort of like that idea more than vecro-ing the ECM to the fender..

Yes the PC V can also be mounted underneath the mud guard as well like the PC III mounts, however under the seat is a much better position as it is much more accessable and offers better protection of the unit. If you do not what to use velcro to hold the ECM in place I recommend 3M Dual Lock which is more secure.
your decell popping had nothing to do with the power commander which is a tuning tool and the pc III or pc V is more than capable of tuning decell popping you have 100% adjustability of the efi and also ignition timing with the pc so it was likely that your tuner just felt more comfortable with the race tuner or wanted to sell you one.
Actualy you have more adjustability from the SERT than the PC III. Can the PC III do warm up enrichment, cranking fuel, idel rpm, IAC warm up steps, decel enleanment, ECM tuning constraints such as engine displacement and injector size just to name a few. The question one needs to ask is why some guys who have had auto tuners and even some with PC III's have gone back to a factory ECM and SERT or TTS. When I was looking for tuners I briefly considered the PC III, decided I didn't want a piggy back unit and I wanted more adjustability along with the data collection ability I could get from a SERT. Don't get me wrong the PC III and the new PC V have their place, there are just some tuners that want more control than what they offer.

Hi, just installed my PCV in my 08 Fat Bob. Had the PC111, also worked great, but since the PCV is half the size it fits right under the seat. Much easier to hook up and read on the lap-top. Not hard to install at all, and it comes pre-loaded with the map. Just let Fuel Moto know what you have on your bike and when it arrives several days later, just plug and play. The best thing is that it does a whole lot more when you need it. You cant go wrong with this unit.
