Default Best bike connections for GPS and Intercom

Over winter I have purchased a Garmin Zumo GPS and an Intercom system, now comes the time time carry out the install and of course I find my self wondering what will be the best interconnection for power with on my 07 RoadKing Custom.

As the owner manual holds little to go on ant suggestions will be gratefully received

I hard wired my Zumo to the unused HDI connection behind the headlight. I also wired in a two pole flat plug so I could remove the cradle. You could also wire it off the accessory.

the wiring colors behind the headlight dawg speaks of, is two wires with a red and black cap respectively on them. the location is right behind the headlight. the orange/red wire is +12 switched (not connected directly to battery so your devices will power down when you kill the ignition) and the black is of course ground. really easy to run wires to that location from your handlebars...

Thanks guys, Sounds straight forward for the Garmin, do you know if there is any easy connection under the seat for the Intercom?

yes sir. under the seat, coming from under the tank on the left side of the bike (as you're sitting on it) there is a plastic wire tray. in that tray you'll find the same orange/red wire to tie your intercom into for switched power. if you want battery power, in front of the battery there is a compartment. tucked in there is a wire with a grey connector on it. that is battery power.
