Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel InjectionNeed advice on ignition issues? Questions about a tuner? Have questions about a EFI calibration or Fuel Injection? Tips on Engine Diagnostics, how to get codes, and what they mean. Find your answers here.
I have an 06 FLHTCUI, recently I installed V&H true dual headers, using my existing Screaming Eagle slip-ons, and installed a V&H Fuel Pak. I set the Fuel Pak as per V&H and the engine did not want to idle. Called V&H and they sent me a new MAP and I set that up, re-calibrated the throttle, and the bike runs better but still has a pause and a "cough" on low RPM.
The engine still backfires more than I would like for it to on deceleration, and it just seems to me that the engine is running too lean at lower RPM levels. The bike runs great at highway speeds, could not ask for any better, mileage is also good.
I have something similar going on. It's a little different setup but I have been running extremely lean. I've put a few different codes in the fuelpak but no difference in the lean condition. My mech. is planning on taking the fuelpak out and hooking up a PCIII on monday to see what that does for it. I'll let you know how i make out.
Night Punch, I am trying to install the fuelpak on my sportster and can not get it to fit. how did you get the harnesses to fit? Is the fuelpak meter by the battery? Any guidance is appreciated.
If you watch the install video on the V&H website, it will give you a good idea on how to do it. I watched it a good 8 or 9 times so be patient w/ it. I mounted the LED unit on the outside of the battery. I believe part of the connectors go right above the battery as well. What gave me the biggest problem was making the battery strap fit just right. Hope this helps you out. I just recently changed the FP out for the PCIII and seems to run way better but looking at the plugs, it's still running lean. WTF!!!
Thanks NightPunch, i finnaly got it to fit and velcro'd the LED unit to the outside of the battery as you suggested. Had to use ties to keep the cover on but it fits. I am pretty happy though I do occasionally get a little decel pop. I didn't replace the gaskets on the exhuast so that may be causing the problem. I will put that project on my winter list. Thanks for yoiur assistance. BTW, the V & H's straight shots are louder than I anticipated but they do sound good! May have to consider the baffles.
