I've been trying to debug a wiring issue for 2 days. I'm stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
We're finishing the wiring on an 08 RoadKing for Sturgis. Everything seems to be working EXCEPT the right blinker. If I hold the front brake, the blinker switch works fine. I can hit the brake, start the blinker, then let go of the brake and it works...but i cannot shut them off without hitting the brake again.
Also, the bike won't start in gear. In neutral, it starts...clutch in or out...nothing if it's in gear.
I've internally wired a set of 16" ape hangers. That's about all I've touched on the wiring. All the rear lights plug into the stock harness. If I unplug the rear harness, the problem remains.
Check the connector for the right hand controls. Make sure you have the same color wire coming in and out both sides of that connector. It sounds like you have red/yellow connected to orange/white at the connector. I don't know what completing wiring means. Instead of power, i.e. orange/white, connected to both switchs you have the tail light, i.e. red/yellow, connected to both switchs. If the tail light isn't lit then the turn signal switch gets no power.
