timing
On a 75 harley sporty what timing marks do you go by the vertical line or the two dots.Right now it's about 1/8 away from being full retard and if i go to advance it she pops like firecrakers out the pipes.If the advance plate screws cmae loose from the bike jumping around can it jump timing

I found the cams weren't line up got them lined up i set my advance plate in the middle still i can't see the timing marks all i see is the crank i marked the vertical line with white paint but don't see it and it should stand out.It's a 75 harley sportster XLH unless it's the two dots side by side even the manual shows the line and the dots unless i'm missing it.
