Default Starter Kickback

I have a 2008 with Screaming eagle 103 kit 255 cam. I have 230 psi and 210 in the cylinders for pressure.

The engine kicks back against the starter about 1 out of 5 starts. Sounds horrible, like the thing is grinding metal on metal.

What are my options to fix this? Stronger starter? Then what one?
ACR? Expensive option.

Thanks

Compression releases installed in the heads should solve ur problem. Or upgrade ur starter to a more heavy duty model.

I've decided to upgrade to a slightly more powerful starter. From a 1.2 kw to a 1.4 kw. (I don't rmember the brand name..something with Tech in the name.) I talked to my local mechanic today and he felt that would be a better choice for my application. I hope so.....really hated the idea of taking the heads off again and going through that whole process.

I have cylinder pressure as high as yours and would trash a stock starter clutch, put a 1.4 allballs and bigger cables on, has been trouble free for 2 years.
