Default Powercommander Autotune

I tried the search feature and I suck so I may be asking a questionthat has already been asked.

Anyway, I have the PC V on my bike with the Stage I setup. I have not Dyno tuned my bike, just running a canned map. It is working good, but I would like a bit more perfection. Would it be better for me to get the bike dyno tuned for a couple hundred bucks, or go with the Auto-tune from Dynojet to add on to the Power Commander for a couple hunderd bucks? The way I see it, a dyno tune is a one time thing and I have to do it again if I change anything, and the Auto tune would be "reusable". And, they are both about the same price anyway.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, I never claimed to be a smart man. I have just heard that getting the bike dyno tuned can be a shot in the dark as far as the tuner and setup goes and I may not get a good tune anyway.

Any input would be appreciated.

If you want perfection, I think you should have a good shop tune the bike. I think that may be more than a couple hundred bucks though. I hear auto tunes may get you 95% there, but I have not seen dyno sheet comparisons.

If it was me, I'd sell the PCV and buy a TTS, and VTune it myself. Unless you have some strange problem, a VTune will get you closer to perfection for the street than most tuning shops would. You also can adapt to bike changes by simply re-Vtuning it rather spending the cash on another dyno tune. I have seen dyno sheet comparison and have heard seat of the pants comparisons between a Vtune and a dyno tune. Done well, both methods get you the same results, often VTune being better.

+1 Coldcase. Just having a hard time understanding why us guys want to add more hardware to our scoots, rather than taking advantage of the stock ECM and just using software to get the same or better results...

Dragon 5 - I'm thinking the same thing as you. I've just done some cams and will eventually change exhaust I'm sure. Even if autotune is "only 95%" that seems pretty darn good to me. Especially when a shop tune isn't always 100% anyway.

Another thing I'm considering that makes keeping the PC-V worthwhile is the potential for smog checks looming in the future, at least here in Kali. I would be able to de-tune the bike long enough to pass the inspection, then autotune it back to where it needs to be.

All I really want to do is tune out the popping on decel, but there really is no how to manual for the PC V. I don't want to change anything without really knowing what changing the values ultimately does to the bike.

FWIW, it takes less then 60 seconds to change maps using the TTS.

And with the VE's already established thru the VTune process (TTS), the need to auto-tune is not necessary.

Default Check out these posts on PCV and AT

Here is a thread that you can read plenty on the AT. I had 1 on my 08 and am putting on my new bike. I like the fact that it does allow me to add/change parts and it does adjust.

As far as the decel pop, it may not help with that. Check out this thread:
