Electronic Ignition PROBLEM?????
HI, I have just put a new motor in the 82 shovel and installed an ultima single fire electronic ignition . i have a problem that the timing light wont work when trying to time the thing. I changed back to a dual fire coil setup and timed it ok with that, then changed to the single fire coil and the motor seems to run ok but then i went to check the timing using the light and it wont strobe, previously i even changed out the original coil that came with the kit thinking that it was faulty and tryed a different timing light, I have used the gold coloured pickup cup that came with the kit , Has anyone have any ideas whats going on because it 's got me stumped . thanks KEV
HI,I have read on another part of forum someone having a similar problem, i just went out and put another ht leed on and peeled the insulator off the spark plug end and attached the timing light pickup directly onto the plug end andthe timinglight worked and the mark on the motor was checked and found to be timed correctly, so the pickup was not getting enough pulses through the wire insuation ........ thanks Kev ,its amazing what you learn by reading forums
