Charging issue...

1991 Sporty 1200. Running with lights on drains battery, dumps engine. While still rolling at speed with engine off, slip clutch to restart, turn lights off at ignition key, she stays running and I can get back home. Garage tests: With engine off, battery reads 12.7VDC. With engine running, lights off, battery registers 12.4 - 12.6VDC. With engine running, lights ON, voltage across the battery drops to 11.4 - 11.9VDC. When I rev it, the voltage drops even lower. I'm thinking voltage regulator/rectifier. (They ARE integrated, aren't they?) Any thoughts. e-mail: futurebtmfdr(at)yahoo(dot)com

First, put your battery under a load test and make sure it does not have a dead cell.

If you rev and voltage drops i'm saying no charge. I would check all conections first then reg.,and stator.
