Are you getting an engine light trouble code? If so, use the T/M software to connect to the ECM and read the trouble codes. Just for fun, remove the seat and snug down the cable connections at the battery. A poor ground will cause intermittent problems.

A faulty head temperature sensor will cause poor running conditions.

I'm in SC about 100 miles north west of Charleston, SC.

I have had a similar problem with a T/M and it was a poor ground and a faulty head temp sensor.

Also have injectors inspected per bulletin M-1185.

http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/download...jectorswap.pdf

I checked the T/M map library and the largest engine size for 8 degree injectors is the 95" engine all the 103" engine maps are for 25 degree injectors..

Is your Thundermax unit a closed loop system or have an external closed loop module on it?

I have a 2007 Big Dog Bulldog that I converted to the Thundermax wide band system and love it. Came with the S&S VFI single band which I dumped. Started with a Thundermax ECM and separate auto tune module made for the V-Rod due to space available on my bike. After a few modifications like eliminating the problematic EHC in the BDM bikes I went with a one piece Auto tune module which in reality just bolts to the face of the Thundermax ECM. With the software you can hook up and diagnose just about any issues. I use a Belkin USB to serial adapter purchased at Best Buy. I have been running the unit for about 3 years and it is awesome and easy to navigate. It does have a function on it if you choose to use it to save your map and codes and email it to Zippers if you wish but you can do a lot yourself if you wish. The monitoring function you can select the gauges you wish to display and get a real time feed back of what is happening.
If you IAC is acting up or faulty you can simply tell it to recalibrate if you wish running so it does it through the heat ranges or teach it the home position as others have said already. If you head temperature sensor is faulty you can Ohm it out to see what it reads at ambient temperature or look in the software and see what it reads before running the motor. Thundermax is good stuff. I am happy to help you if I can. My Big Dog is a built 117, making 130hp/142TQ the last time I checked before the last round of mods. I do have friends at the Thunderheart factory here in Tennessee that I can point you to if you wish. My EFI BDM was the bike converted to wide band from the S&S VFI and I have helped a few others convert over as well. The Thunderheart factory did the initial map seeing how a BDM Bike had not been done before and mine being built on top of everything.
I also have a 2010 Ultra Classic that I will put a Thundermax w/auto-tune when I recover from the divorce financial bind.
Neil
The software is free

There is an easy way to check the status of your O2 sensors. Link up to your bike (spend the $ on a quality cord if ya don't have the original, ya dumped a bunch of $$ on your ride, why cut corners now), and check the AFR readings for front and rear WITHOUT starting the bike. Normal indication should be 19.36. Anything other than that indicates a sensor issue.

I know i need a cord and like doing some things myself. My bike has a warranty I got when i bought the bike. So I have been having the dealer do everything. I just got a call this morning saying it was ready. Replaced both o2 sensors and all I owe is $25. I appreciate everyones help and hope I will have more time on here when my busy season at work slows down
