I'm planning to put in a new ignition while I'm doing some other work. Getting ready to order parts. I'm stuck between either the Crane HI-4E or the Daytona 1006. I'll probably replace the coil also and do single fire. It'll be for a '92 Heritage Evo w/new heads, pistons, carb. Staying away from nose cone units as I'd rather not have to worry about heat.
Any pro or con experience with either one? Any difference in installation and setup? Reliability or support?
I used the Crane Hi-4 on two bikes, a '97 Sporty and a '97 WG. They both ran flawlessly for thousands of miles.
The mathcing Crane coil, though, is another story. Whenever the WG would get wet, it only ran on one cylinder. Changed coils, and it got better but still did it. The Sporty never did that, but maybe becouse of the mounting position. I would use a differant brand of coil.
