i was wondering if any body has used agm batteries in thier harley as a replacement,I was thinking about going with interstate but found an agm with just as many cold cranking amps and the same warranty for 50 bucks cheaper then the interstate.
AGM - absorbed glass mat ... if the battery is a 'maintenance free' ... odds are it is AGM ....
All late-model Harleys have been coming with AGM batteries from the factory and that is what they sell for HD replacements, as well ....
I am going to give a Big Boar AGM battery a try ... it puts out 350 amps CCP vice factory battery's 275 amps ... I am getting #2 gauge battery cables, too ... I was concerned that going with a higher output battery the stock #6 cables would cause too much resistance and possibly damage something ....
I'll report back when I get them installed ... hopefully, later this week or this weekend ....
Mine came with a factory AGM.. In fact the dealer just gave me a new one yesterday since it was part of purchase deal (they aggreed to replace in 3 years before my service contract expired 7/1). While picking it up, it must have been battery day because everyone in the service line was holding a dead battery and most were questioning the difference in the new one being set on the counter (AGM). I have had no troubles from mine since day one and in fact it tested Ok on the day of replacement--but they needed the old one to give me a new one.
