1K service coming up, which air filter best choice
I know it's been asked before, but I'll ask it again. I'm about to have my 1st 1K service on my 2007 Deluxe. Already have Cycle Shack slip ons but haven't changed the air filter yet. I want to change the filter and tune the computer to match this setup. I have a small amount of popping since installing the slip ons but not bad. I'm looking for more HP and a smoother running bike but not looking to smoke the tires. My dealer (Seminole Harley in Sanford FL) said they would do a race tuner job. My question is which is best filter and best way to dial it all in for best bang for the buck.
RE: 1K service coming up, which air filter best choice
Hello marty44:
Most usually go with the HD stage I and install the K&N filter or the Arlen Ness Big Sucker. Either one breathes better than the stock setup. When you say race tuner job I assume you mean that they will install the SERT and a dyno tune. If the tuner knows what he is doing the race tuner will take care of the pop and backfire and the bike should run great. Check the price before you turn the bike over to them because you may be able to buy the sert cheaper at Zanottiâs or Chicago HD. and install it your self. Just install one of the canned maps thatâs close and have them do the dyno tune. I am running the PC III myself, but there are other members that could help you with the sert install if you have problems.

I believe there is post here on how to build your SE A/C setup. A lot cheaper than getting it done at HD dealer. Add the K&N-0800, which is K&N's replacement for the blue SE A/C. It will be the last air filter you will buy for your M/C.
Pick up a SERT or Power Commander to adjust the mapping & you are set.
RE: 1K service coming up, which air filter best choice
My dealer just told me they don't have a dyno but expect to get one within 1 or 2 months. I'm thinking of doing the following and would like some advice. I can buy the SERT & K & N filter over the net (zanottis for the SERT), then download one of the canned maps for my pipes and filter. See how it runs. Can always bring it to the dealer for a dyno tune when they get one. Sound reasonable? BTW, any posts on how you install and run the SERT downloads?
