2008 Softail Deluxe Problem
He went riding today and all was well. He stopped to take a break and when he tried to start it, nothing. He said the only light that comes on is the security light blinking. The starter won't turn the engine over, neutral light won't come on, headlight won't come on, fuel pump won't run, instrument lights won't come on, no turn signals.
He tried switching the off/run back and forth, switching the ignition switch back and forth, carrying the key fob far enough away to set the alarm system and then walking back to the bike and trying to start it. Nothing.
He looked at the fuses and all looked okay. I told him to use a test light or multi meter to check them, one might look good but still be blown. He also checked the ground connections to frame and battery. I told him to pull the codes to see if there are any.
When I talked to him, he was carrying it home on a trailer. He said he was going to put it in his shed and check it out sometime next week.
He is kind of frustrated because he has always wanted a Harley. This is his first one. He came off a Honda VTX 1800 with no problems at all.
What happens when the battery in the key fob dies? He only got one key and one fob. He didn't get an owners manual with it either. Isn't there a process that uses the turn signal buttons to override the security.
Thanks,
