Default 4000 rpms

I have a 1993 heritage, it just will not go over 4k rpms its like there is a rev limiter. I did have the ignition and coil changed and it didnt make any difference. I do have a collapsed lifter and the pushrod was tightened to stop the tap, would that cause the motor not to go over the 4k rpms?

What ignition module did they put in? If it was stock ... my previous stock ignition module would only allow about 4,200 rpms. My new crane module allows you to set the rpms to what you want for your motor. I set mine at 6,200 and it cuts out at about 5,700.

Its a single fire ignition and its set at 6500, if im cruising at say 40mph there is small poping from my exhaust. It might not be timed right but it still wouldnt stop the motor from running over 4k rpms.

I would say you need to do a compression check on the cylinder with the collapsed lifter. When you adjusted it just to make it quieter, you maybe holding the valve off the seat. You need to replace the lifters.

Damaged slide diaphragm. Diaphragm leaks and will not raise the slide to fully open. Look into carb throat and rev the engine. Slide should go all the way up.

OK I tested the compression and the rear has 120 and the front where the collapsed lifter is has 100. So im guessing that the valve isnt closing all the way because of the pushrod being to tight?
