I fried something
I have a 97 King that was EFI that I put a carb on and a Dyna dual fire ignition. I ran a ground wire from the starter mounting bolt to the frame.( since its rubber mounted and this bike is a rebuild) Started good ran good. But on the maiden voyage to the end of the block and back (I didnt get out of first gear) it shut down and smoked out. All the smoke was from the insulation burning off that ground wire, thats it! But now she wont click,tick,burp or fart NOTHING. The only other thing I noticed is the coil got really HOT, and stayed that way for a long time after the failure. Any Ideas?..old stories?..jokes?..good phone numbers?

still need help....please?
The voltage regulator for 97 and newer has 4 wires, 2 are already fixed in a plug for the stator. one goes back to the 30 amp circut breaker, where does the other go?
and my coil only has two post all the diagrams I have showe 3?
And the starter relay. All the diagrams and web sights explain what they do, I just want to know what wire goes from this prong to this device or growned or terminal theres only 4 wires where do they go? I have a dyna dual fire ignition and a stock coil and stock regulator.
