HI everyone
My question is I have an oppertunity to get a SERT from a friend but we dont know if it was used when he took his bike in for a dyno session. First time he brought the bike in for dyno he got everything back and he noticed the software pack wasnt opened ? Second time he took the bike in for some fine tuning the software was opened but the bike popped on deceleration a little so he believes the software still was not used.
Back to the question is there anyway to tell if this was set up for his bike on a home computer.
Im putting on Rineharts True dual.
Stage 1 Kit
Anythoughts or help much appreciated
Happy Thanksgiving Gregg
You can load the Delphi CD onto multiple computers BUT the black inteface module is the part that records the vin number of the first bike it is used on and then can only be used on that particular bike. Therefore, you will know by hooking it up to the bike and attempting to get the vin on the bike ECM to identify with the module. It will throw you an error if it has already been used. If you figure out a way to clear the previous vin number from the black module let us know........
My guess is that they use a "Dallas Chip" and there is no way to clear it only replace it with a new one. They are highly protected..that's what you're paying for is the chip in the black box.
I'm by no means an expert but I believe it has a non-resetable counter and once its increamented off Zero it can no longer be reprogrammed. First thing it does is upload VIN # and increament counter, then allows communication to know VIN. This is based on info I have gotten while using other OEM protection chips...not any direct knowledge of Harley's SERT.

Naw, they actually program it with the vehicle's vin. It goes into write once memory.
