Fuel Gauge and Send Unit - Diagnosis

Fuel gauge does not work, always reads full. Where can I find a detailed procedure to diagnosis the problem? I've not found anything in the service manual. Thanks.

Might consult the electrical diagnostic manual for your bike. One of the first purchases I get for a bike is the manuals. They cost a few bucks, but save me a lot more.

Thanks Dallas for this suggestion. I know where to get one, but I believe the problem is a mechanical one (I think the sender unit sticks), but I'm not sure. Wish there was a better system though.

Can you see the float rod through the filler hole?

Unfortunately, no. If I could, then I might be able to un-stick it (if that was the problem) or maybe even move it up and down to work the gauge/sender assembly. I have to remove the tank hole cover assembly under the console to get into the tank.

Have you tried to unplug the sender so it zero's. Its not that hard to pull the fuel tank console. Not a bad time to service the fuel filter. Pull the sender and ohm it.
