Hey gang, I'm looking at putting factory saddlebags on my FXDI. They say I will need the turn signal relocation kit. I can't find a picture or make sense out of it. Do I have to remove the entire chrome piece that goes from above the shock absorber to the back of the bike (the one the turn signals stick out of0 or what.
I know this shouldn't be too tough a mod (or hope so), but can't quite get a picture of it in my head.
TIA for any help. Art
I used the HD Layback Relocation Kit for the older Dyna's which was about $50 and includes a nice chrome layback license plate mount. You will have to buy two new turn signals though since the thread pitch is different and the wires need to come through the mounting holes and they come out a seperate mounting hole on the 05 Dyna's. Lastly you will need to go to a True Value Hardware store and buy two Stainless jam nuts (about 50 cent each). HD layback Relo Kit

I had to remove the fender struts on my softail, cut the exsisting wires, run them through the new turn signal stems, crimp butt connectors onto wires, heatshrink, and reinstall. After that it was clear that because the wires were re-routed they were a fraction to short.[:@] I hope the dyna setup is better, because the factory stems looked much better than the ones in the H-D relocation kit.
I prefer the factory location but since I had to relocate the TSs in order to fit saddle bags and this looked like the best option.
I couldn't see spending $70 or $80 for just the stinkin relocation bar that goes on the cheezy OEM license plate mount when for about $50 you get the TS relo and a nice layback license plate.
