Default P0261 p0263 p1002 codes

2006 Street Bob
Python 2-1 exhaust
screamin Eagle intake with K&N filter
PCIII with Generic map

I've got the following codes:

P0261 Front Injector Open/Low EFI
P0263 Rear Injector Open/Low EFI
P1002 System relay Coil High/Shorted EFI

I have already changed out all the fuses as well as both relays. Battery is new.

I had some coughing and sputtering problems but bike ran...till it stalled and wouldn't start.

Towed it home and installed new battery and fueses and relays.

Now bike will fire, but stalles after a few seconds.

I can hear the fuel pump kicking on and off.

There was corrosion on the fuses and relays, but couldn't really get in there to clean it out..installed new fuses and relays with dielectric grease.

ANY IDEAS?

IMHO, PCIII's cause more problems than they're worth. I'd take it off my bike if I were you and see what you've got then.

The bike has been running the PCIII since 2006...I've ran it with several different setups and it did well.

I recently bought the Cobra self-tuning unit and went back to my 2-1 exhaust...this is when problems started. Bike ran badly so I took it off...bike still ran badly, so I put the PCIII back on.

See, the bike never ran perfect when stock....it always had a cough or sputter. I am able to tune it out with the PC, but this time, the problem has gotten worse.

I replaced the relays and thought I had it fixed...then it started acting up and won't stay started.

I am going to remove the PCIII, but doubt I can get the thing to stay running at all without it.

I wonder if my ECM has had a problem all along?

My brother has a 2006 Superglide, but I don't know if it would be as simple as swapping ECMs to test...may be vin specific like cars.

Sorting those things out can be a bear! Good luck, hope you get it solved without too much $$$$ involved.

Are the codes current or historic ?

If you clear them do they come back ?

I clear them, start the bike and they pop back up.

I know the relay is not bad...just wondering what else can cause these codes. seems like a short maybe.

i have looked at all the wiring right off the ECM and in that area...next will be to foloow it to the front of the bike and look for anything out of the ordinary.

Wonder if the bank sensor can cause this?

Well the flow chart for a P1002 suggests 3 things

Replace the relay
Replace the ECM
Find a short on the Green/orange stripe wire

Corrosion can cause a short so you might need to clean the area in there properly and check that wire all the way back from the relay to the ECM

The system relay also provides power to the injectors so fix the main code first which is the P1002 and the injector codes should be alright.

Since the relay has been changed, I think I'll got to step 3 and look for a short before I go replacing the ECM!

Well obviously although they were not listed in order as the flow chart separates and the short and the ECM replacement are at the same level..........at the bottom

However don't discount that the new relay might be faulty and please do make sure you have it plugged in the correct way.

i have switched the relays just to check and the bike still only runs for a couple seconds before shutting off.

i can feel the relay switching on and off.

Still have a funny feeling about the bank sensor though.

When I had it out, it had a very faint smell of burnt electronics. I may try and take the one from my brother's bike and swap that out to see.
