Hi guys, I realize there is a sticky on the SE tuners but I have sort of a unique question...
I am getting ready to put my 124" hillside/S&S build into my 2009 RK. I already have the SE pro tuner older version. I believe it to be the 32109-08B as it is a black box but has the red tunning button. I have no software or cables with it.
Question: Am I able to purchase the new software cd (32111-12), training dvd (32101-10), and cable kit (32184-08) and use them to get a base map (possibly SE120R map) to break my motor in slowly and get a few miles on it before I dyno it with fuel moto on July 18th with the powervision???
I dont think I can wait till July 18th to ride this thing without chemical dependance, . I am just worried that the tuner I have may not be compatable with the newest software, and of course my dealer has no idea other than, buy the new SE unit....
I have the orange box, but same part # 32109-08B and use the software CD and cables w/out a problem. I have the 10' version of the software CD, but to get the news base maps for new bikes, you just buy the newest version and all should work fine. I'm also assuming it's your tuner and has not been locked to another VIN. No need for the training DVD, the large PDF and the sticky could help.
Now, the question is, do you realy want to try to use a base 120R map in your 124? So many variables at play between 120 and your 124 IMO, you might want to wait. You'd be trying to smart tune your new engine not knowing if the base map is lean, timing far off, etc, etc...
I'd just wait for FM to do their magic and let it go through the right heat cycles, but that's just one person's opinion.

Jamie actually suggested using a 120R base map with bigger injectors, open exhaust, etc. to use for breakin idle... I actually found a guy close to me that "SAYS" he is very good with the SE tuner and I think I will use him and his dyno for the breakins so I can make sure AFR's are monitored... Problem is nobody has a "base" map for a built 124"... lol.

I looked at the calibration file that I have from my program disc and show two 120R maps for 2009 Touring. The tow have different compression, cams, ijectors and 58mm TB. Might be more in the newest version of the program disc.
Curious question. We know Fuel Moto does great work, but many bikes are tuned using SE Pro tuner. If you have a good dyno guy, why would you move to the Power Vision?
PM harleytuner, he does this stuff for a living and knows SE Pro (and I think he is in OH).

It would be really nice to have two separate maps to switch on the side of the road.... Say a power map and a "cool" map for the hot days.... I will see how I like the SE pro tuner though after I get her tuned and start fiddling with it.

The LCD screen, ability to see what cells you hit while tuning and the ability to have different maps (even for low octane gas) that you can switch w/out needing to flash the ECM with a laptop, automated timing adjustments (I think) are nice additions of the PV (plus never ending support from FuelMoto).
Yes your VCI will work with the new software. When you go to the Power Vision you can still retain your SEPST MAP, the Vision will allow you to save your exsiting file that is in your ECM and edit it if you like. You can also have up to six MAPs saved on the Vision, you can have a MAP for pure performance, a MAP that is more economical, you can even tune differn't MAPs for differn't grades of fuel. Pretty cool stuff the folks at PC are doing with the Vision. I have tuned quit a few with it recently and have to admit, I am very impressed.
I did the break in MAP on this motor for Burch yesterday, let me start of by saying this thing rocks, Scott at Hillside built him a great motor. It's a really good thing that Burch didn't put a 120 MAP in it and attempt to break it in. I started with the MAP and it was way, way off. It was extremely lean and would barely run. In the end I got it safe for break in, so he'll be bringing it back in about 500 miles so we can get the final tune done, It still has a ton of tuning that needs to be done, but like I said, it's safe to break in.
475 miles of rich running, low rev limit, 90 degree heat riding and bike is back at Roeder racing for harleytuner to work his magic!!! I'm excited to see what he comes up with, and even more excited to ride her breathing the way she was built to! Hopefully this damn heat subsides to make for a better tune and better riding! I am Maine lobster red shoulders down! But it was worth it to ride 98hp 132ft/lbs at 4k rpm limit!!! What a tractor!
