Speedo acting nuts

Default Speedo acting nuts
2000 Dyna sport - battery wouldn't hold charge,replaced battery then same thing again, check engine light would come on, speedo would bounce around. after 2weeks dealer replaced stator, said battery was ok. after picked up still check light and bouncy speedo, went back, waited another week and was told it was old code OK now (yeah right). next time to start same thing. checked stator myself was 30 vac, to check regulator disconnected from main fuse and got 7vdc (was that ok way to check?), but when hooked everything back up @2000 rpm checked battery and got 14-15 vdc. Please help! dying for nice long ride but had to trailer 2x already. Thanks

Had a buddy with same type of speedo issues. Voltage regulator was the culprit.

There are tips on the electrics in the DIY section which may help diagnose your problem.

replaced the voltage reg and looks like that was it thanks for the help

grbrown, don't know how I didnt see DIY it is there plain as day
