So on the ride home from work today I noticed my speedo cut out and the check engine light was on. When I would come to a stop it would turn back on.
Any revs above 3k and the speedo cut out again. I checked my codes when I got home and I had a d08 and from what Ive found thats speedo overcharging.
I checked the battery at idle and Im getting 13.2v but when I revved it would jump past 15v. Im thinking its the voltage regulator but I wanted other opinions before I spend 140 bucks for a new one
Yeah, 15 volts is too much. There is lots of trouble shooting electrical info on this website.
Not always correct but a general rule is low voltage is the stator and over voltage is the voltage regulator.
so has anyone tried the off brand regulators like jp cycles sells? they are like 65 bucks. I usually buy oem electrical parts because ive had bad luck with knock offs
