Good morning, I have a 2003 fatboy with under 4000 miles,
the speedometer went to 0 along with the rpm needle, both do not move, the odometer has no reading ,
The side button doesn't do anything when I click it, thought I would be able to see a code but no reading there.
I replaced the speed sensor thinking for sure that was it since I also had rough idle or didn't start right off the bat like usual.
the speedo just stopped, it didn't waver or anything before hand.
I removed the speedo to look around but didn't see anything weird.
I would normally see the miles on the odometer when the key is turned right?
id appreciate any advise.
iv looked thru the threads but haven't read any where nothing works. the lights do work on the speedo but that's it
sorry if this has been written a 1000 time already
I took it for a ride, the speedometer and rpm and odometer still read nothing, my blinkers do not auto off as if the speed sensor is bad, I just replaced it with the oem from the dealership this morning.
would anything else cause the issue?
Any diagnostic codes? I recently had a similar problem. Turned out my voltage regulator was bad and sending too high voltage to the BCM and SPEEDO. Measure the voltage on your battery with the engine running. It should read about 14 volts.. Mine was reading 15.2 and would go as high as 17 Volts. When the voltage gets about 16 Volts the speedo would stop working. I replaced the voltage regulator and now all is good.
