Hey guys, I'm at my wits end. I'm on my 3rd battery in 30 days. I bought a new battery from autozone (magna power 325cca) because I thought my 8 year old battery was toast. It ended up being the wire from the regulator came loose from the circuit breaker. So that new battery started turning the motor slowly, so I had it load tested and found it had a bad cell. Returned that one, 2nd battery was sluggish out of the box, load tested, it too was bad. 3rd battery is about 3 days old and its dead now too. Went through the charging system and stator is putting out juice and is not shorted. Regulator is putting out 13.25 at the battery. Bike is a 1990 Softail.
Are these just a batch of crappy batteries or is something causing the dead cells? Starter seems to be working. Is there a short somewhere?

Output at high idle should be about 14.5 volts! Autozone sells crap batteries but I doubt you got 3 bad ones in a row.
Maybe I didn't test the stator correctly. I was getting 20vac at idle and the volts would climb as I increased the rpms. The regulator is a brand new Harley oem. But a low charge, how does that explain a dead cell in the battery? Yesterday, I started the bike and it started strong, rode it about a mile shut it off, and when I went to start it again 5 min later, it struggled to turn off then the starter just clicked.
