cold starting
Is it normal for my battery to be to cold to start? I live in Reno,Nv. and my 08 1200 Sporty wont start when it gets below 40 degrees? Can you compression start an 08?

hard starting ...
had 05' 1200 my wife rode for a few years , and had the same thing , but then again all motors are very hard to start when that cold ....things contract when cold (pistons to the juggs) and expand when hot ...not to mention that the 1200 has 9.7:1 compression , which is why they have always been hard to start and battery replacement is done alot . must keep the battery fully charged , or place the whole bike in heated room (kitchen or living room) to warm to room temp ,and see the difference , compression releases help but when cold , they are all hard to start ,
, one thing not to do is to try to keep boosting it w/ the 60amp start that some car battery chargers have on them , this will burn out the voltage regulator (back feeling to much power to the charging circuit)
