Cold blooded sporty ! at what temp's do you guy's start having trouble starting your sporty's?? I left mine outside over night and it sure was hard to start. the temps got dowm to about 29 or 30 degree's. that's cold where I live. Any way twice I stopped trying to start it so I diddnt drain the battery. and yes I used the choke, gave it a couple of twists of the trottle,3 , before cranking it over. Is my battery weak or is this normal?? Living in southern arizona i dodnt have to worrry about cold very often. any info would be appreciated.
Mine is very bitchy after sitting in cold temps. Not sure if extra prime by twisting the throttle does any good.
I usually give it short bursts of the starter to avoid draining the battery (plus I keep it on a tender when it's cold). Typical carb warts.
I have a carbed bike, she cranks well when its cold out. I roll the throttle once, pull the enricher out (no it aint a choke) and hit the switch. First time every time... I never do it any different. Dont hit the gas at all after that initial first roll before the starter. I keep my bike tuned really well, if you have a prob with this method I would check my plugs and carb settings.
so you roll the throttle BEFORE you pull the enrichener? or maybe, now that I think about it,it doesn't really matter - still priming the same amount- enrichener just makes it rich when it's running.
I live in Wisconsin so I've experienced a cold startor two. My bike is carbed and it takes a bit to get it going. Just a twist, and I turn her over a for a bit let off, and hit it again. Sometimes if I haven't run the bike for a month or more I have to give it a couple tries.
