Yes before I do anything I roll the throttle. I dont know if it makes a difference or not but it cranks real good like this. The enricher squirts extra gas in the carb as soon as it starts turning over. If I dont roll the throttle once first, it wont fire right up. I think the roll primes the bowl and the enricher adds just the right amount of extra fuel for that perfect start...

so you roll the throttle BEFORE you pull the enrichener? or maybe, now that I think about it,it doesn't really matter - still priming the same amount- enrichener just makes it rich when it's running.
Always takes a couple of hits on the started button, when sitting and below 30*
have ridden earlier in the day, one hit on the starter
- just remember; Harley starters can overheat. don't hold it crankin' for more than a few secs or so at a clip,
even if the battery can handle it, wait several seconds in between tries
- twisting the throttle (when using choke) will usually dump too much fuel (for a non-running engine),
if you need the choke, don't touch the throttle, if you use the throttle, don't use the choke
- also use the choke as little as possible, as it will foul the plugs !
push it in to 1/2 (as soon as you can), then push it in to 1/4 (as soon as you can)
BUT learn how your bike responds (don't get out on a main road / highway) if you are not sure it's warmed up, yet.
