Whats the coldest weather you guys are able to get your sportsters to start in? obvioulsy I mean when stored outside? I know with my previous non-harley bikes anything within a few degrees of freezing meant it wouldnt start
I have a battery tender on mine and it started in January when the temp was 7F. I needed to get it running to take it in for work before we had tons of snow.
Sitting outside overnight, the coldest I've started mine was 12 degrees.
I did start it once last winter with the temp at 0, but I pulled the bike in the hotel room that night. I don't think if would have started if I didn't.

I have always been able to borrow a garage for overnight in the winter.
After riding to work it then sits outside for 8-12 hours at temps below 20*F, in the sun. My coldest ride to work this year was 4*F, last year 9*F.
It will start after a couple of turn overs. The engine does not like it very much. The problem is the cold oil on the flywheel. I run either 20W50 or straight 50 weight oil. It would start better if I changed to a lighter weight oil as recommended in the manual.
