Stumped....
I have a 90 FXSTS, It sat for 3 years before I bought it. I got it running after replacing the ignition coil and ignition module. HAD a soft click when I hit the starter button, replaced relay. Afterwards the bike would run for about 2 maybe 3 minutes then blow the main breaker, killing the motor. I replaced the breaker, thinking that maybe it was as old as the relay. It did not help. I checked all the wiring, no cuts or scrapes or naked wire. I read that maybe it was shorting out through the armature. I pulled the starter off, and apart. Everything tested ok. I am open to any suggestions on what I can try, test, or replace. BTW it was not cutting out before I replaced the relay, I just had to keep pushing the start button until it kicked in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
