It's very important that you set the throttle position to 0%, otherwise the PC3 will use the part of the map that goes with the % that it thinks it is. If you start the program when the bike is running and hooked to the computer it will show the throttle position and the map your PC3 is set with. If you go to the PC3 website they have tutorials about how to set things.

If your set to hook up to your bike with a laptop then hook up and fire the thinbg and let it warm up . at an idle it should show 0 if it doesnt then go tot he top of the screen and find the pull down where it can be set. Dynojet's web site has instrictions on how to do it. I did mine last night as well as d/l the new firmware to use the revxtend . Man what a difference.

I had a problem setting the TPS to zero. It never really stays at zero and when I crack the throttle it goes to 100%. Is this a normal thing or is my TPS bad. Seems to run fine but, doesn't seem right to me. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.

That's normal; it should only be zero and idle. Wide open would be 100%.

Thanks, It really jumps around at idle sometimes hits 100%. It's either 0 or 100% nothing in between. Anyway I am going to get it Dyno'd as soon as I get my new pipes. The SE "street performance" slip-onsjust don't cut it!

Throttle position should not jump around at idle. It should stay at 0. The only numbers that should be jumping a little is RPM's.

I agree completely with bh73. If throttle position does not remain at zero, I would question (in no specific order):
1. PCIII
2. Connections (USB cable, connector to PCIII and from PCIII, maybe throttle position sensor connection). Make sure to check for debris in the connectors, broken pins, etc.
3. throttle position sensor
4. Correct play in the throttle cables (or at least some play)
5. Diag check to see if any codes were logged

Anyway, throttle position should be zero and the rpms should or will vary 100, give or take.

Make sure the engine is warm (I prefer at operating temp).

At idle it should be 0 and as you slowly increase throttle, so too should the throttle position increase on the laptop.

Thanks, Thats what I thought. Didn't seem right that it jumped around so much. Engine was up to operating temp so I am going to check all my connections and sensor. Has anyone tried getting it up to temp and attaching a battery to adjust TPS.

Thanks.

To set throttle position the bike has to be running and therefore power is supplied from the bikes electrical system. Using the 9V battery is nice for loading or changing maps, start fuel changes and accelerator pump. I do it this way just to save myself from exhaust fumes and noise inside the garage. As for the throttle position, go out for a nice ride and upon getting home, throw the laptop onto the PCIII, power everything up, including the bike, then set the positions.

If I'm correct, you can set the 100% position with the bike not running and the 9V attached. I did this once and it thru me a code. I cleared it and all was fine but, I ended up setting positions with the bike running. When you set the 100% throttle, if you open the throttle quickly then close it, you won't go over 4000 rpm. You don't need to hold it at 100%, just go to the stop then right back.
