On the road to rolling thunder, and about 150 miles outside of Boston I started having issues with my 09 road king. It was almost like the spark was being shut off intermittently around 2300-2500 RPM's. I thought I had a bad plug, Temp sensor, or crank sensor. Pulled over changed the plugs and wires, checked the crank sensor and all looked good. Once back on the road I had the same issue and It was getting worse. I decided to stop at the closest Harley dealership, by the time I rolled in the bike would barely run in that RPM Range.
They did a full diagnostic and then disconnected the PCV and BOOM problem mostly fixed (I have cams, intake, and exhaust so it wasn't running perfect.) Well I ended up buying the SE tuner and having my bike dyno'd. I am completely happy with the performance of the bike now vs with PCV and auto tune. Before i would get about 210 miles per tank, now I am getting 240-250 and It feels like I have a lot more power throughout the entire RPM range.
Fast forward to today, I call Power commander and tell them of the problem, they pretty much tell me that Harley was just trying to sell me something and It wasn't an issue with the PCV. I cannot fathom how they can deny it was a PCV issue when upon removing the PCV the bike ran better. I am beyond frustrated with power commander and will never buy or recommend one of their products again.
