Intermittent miss
07 fxd. 96" 6 speed. V&H propipe. S&S teardrop high flow breather. Commander 3 programmer. O2 delete plugs. 49 state smog (no charcoal can, all Harley parts). New plugs, new wires, new fuel filter, 11,000 miles.
Bout 2 months ago it developed an intermittent miss. It would just drop off like it lost everything for a fraction of a second. Sometimes leaving a light, or cruising 50-65 in sixth. Bout a month ago it started intermittently pinging real bad when warmed up real good.
Dealer plugged it in, said all seemed normal. It has never given me a check engine light. Dealer told me it's probably the commander 3. Called dynajet, they said update the firmware, and software. Took it to one of their local "Super" techs, and he handled it for me. No muss, no fuss. Dropped in a new map, headed home to put her back together.
Fire it up, sounds great. Take off, get 1 miss that day, but no pinging. Here we are a month later, still no pinging, but the miss is worse than ever. Sometimes. I'm to the point, I can tell if it's goin to start missing on me, by the sound when she lights off.
Harley says with all the extra air, even if I plug the 02's back in, don't run it without the programmer. They also tell me that the programmer will sometimes block their machine from seeing codes.
I don't wanna just throw a $400 programmer at it to see if it's the problem. Any of you fellas out there that have some good ideas wanna share them with me?? Thanks
