I'm in the process of re-wiring a new headlight onto my 1991 FXRS. I've ran into a bit of a snag.............and could use some advice. I've got (2) orange wires runnning into socket connection 1-B (see picture). I've cut the wires ,as shown in the pic, and now i'm about to reconnect them again. Problem is, that I don't know which orange wire goes to which orange wire. I'm assuming that since they were both orange they could be interchangeable, but want to make sure.
From what I can tell from your wiring diagram, both of the orange wires appear to be power going to your handlebar switches, so it shouldn't matter which is which...
That's what i was thinking. Otherwise, they would have colored them differently. I just didn't want to fry something when I turned the key on for the first time.
Since both of those wires go to your handle bar switches, nothing would "fry" anyway until you depressed one of the switches. One way to double-check would be to hook up a test light to each of the orange wires (coming from the bike). When you turn on your key, they should light up...
