Finally picked up my bike and even took it for a ride yesterday. A big change from the Ultra but it all came back to me. Hoping to get some more riding but the rain is persistent. I've been tickling the carb to get it to start but it dosen't always idle down like it should. IT is certainly rideable and just needs a little more attention.

Slow or no return to normal idle is commonly a symptom of an intake leak. The usual suspect is the o-rings between the manifold and the heads.

I see that you are optimistic about being like everyone else, and having an oil leak from that nice, clean bike onto that nice, clean shop floor

Thanks AJ I have kept my eyes open for years waiting for the right sportster to come along again. I actually bought it in December but then I spent the winter down south and didn't get my hands on it until last Friday. I had it shipped from Illinois. Oh and Mick I'm an old London boy myself from long ago even had Mr. Barr rebuild my motors many years ago. Picture 1979

Yes! I had Billy Barr do the safety inspection on my first IronHead in ~2004. Cool 70s pic "Dad"
