Default friction clutch thickness

Hello to everyone
I have 1966 XLCH. I have to de-assemble the clutch so ... why not to check the friction discs ??
I found 7 discs of each. The friction discs looks very thin to be honest. I measure them and the average thickness is 2.5mm or 13/128 inches.
Does anyone knows how thick is a new one ?? I have them repaired if necessary but I need to know the thickness that should have.
I try to find that information in the manual but it is not there.

Thanks a lot for your help and have a nice day

I am not sure of what you want to se but I took a few pictures and a few measures.
The friction plate... the steel is 1.2 mm so friction material of each side is about 0.65mm
same thickness for the driven plate
7 plates of each
AND at the back I found a steel disk. I have not idea what is that for 5.9mm very thick and heavy. I have never seen something like that before.

Your friction discs are not worn out IMO
Stock is 7 fiber and 7 steel plates
Is that rear most plate #8 ?

I have not had an iron head in the shop in quite a while

but that is a Barnett clutch i believe - clean it soak the discs in atf - or we use jap bike 10 40 engine oil synthetic in the trans and primary in every sporty

jap bike oil is designed for gear box and clutches

Great news for me. Thanks
how much 'friction material' left is considered to be too worn 0.3mm may be ? I have about 0.65 each side.

>Is that rear most plate #8 ?
I do not think I understood your question. The thick plate at the back is almost 6mm. thick.

acording to the manual till 1969 the primary should be dry.
any way I found oil when I opened that .... may be a broken seal ?
I believe there should be not oil at all. The oil should be at the oil deposit and the cover ... that thing was not designed to retain oil. That was stamped from a piece of steel like british and older motorcycles with a dry primary.

Original clutches are very thing the Barnett stuff is way thinner they use that to take up the space

when the clutch material is almost into the steel is when they need changing
