Best Carb
I replaced my original carb with a CV. After reading a bunch of articles on the conversion I thought I could get it done for about $100 to $120. It ending up costing me a lot more than that. I bought a new take off from Ebay for $60 that came with an enrichener /choke cable. The only problem was it didn’t include any of the parts needed to connect it to the carb. Off to the dealer and about $40 more to buy the missing parts and new jets. Adapter flange $30, AC another $50 from eBay. Finally mount it and find out my cables are short 1 inch of free play. Had to buy new cables. Rejetted and drilled out the idle mixture screw cover (its set a 2 1/4 turns out). Bike started right up. I have only put about 35 miles on the bike since I installed the carb (its been a little cold but getting up to 70 today). I pull out the choke and the bike now starts with just a touch of the starter button. I have no more popping when I decelerate, the bike has a lot more power and seems to shift more smoothly. Overall I’m glad I made the conversion. I just can’t get over how easy it starts now. I should also note that I installed a Crane Hi-4 Ignition system over the winter.
