I have a 77 ironhead project I'm working on. She's kick start only, which I think is pretty cool, but ultimately a pain in the ***. Given enough time and patience, I can get her kciked and started, but sometimes I just don't have the time to worry about that, and I hate loosing gasloine what with prices so high.
I know Custom Chrome makes a kit, but you have to buy the oil tank seperately. A guy in NJ gave me a quote of $813, but to be honest, I don't have that kind of cash.
I'm looking for alternatives, such as used parts, to convert it to either kick and electric, or just electric, really whichever is cheaper.
Time to hit the swap meets, if the cash is a problem. If you are having trouble starting the bike every now & then, swap the points out for an electronic ignition, tune the thing up, including timing, plugs, carb, and the valves (pushrods/lifters). My CH was a 2 prime, 1 kick starter.
I wish it was the same today. Now it's full of BMW's and civics. Not that these are bad, just not my style. It is kind of nice to be unique with my ironhead (hell even a harley) though
