Just as a suggestion you could sift thru the E-Bay items and find a pretty good deal on carbs. I picked up an S&S "B" for $55 which included shipping fees. The throttle shaft bore had absolutely NO play and the overall condition was practically new.
There are also good deals on S&S "E" carbs as well. I've seen some sell for less than $200 that are in good shape......BTW, that is without the intake manifold!Keep in mind that dealing with items up for bid can result in some anxiety when you lose a bid by $5 or less in the last 3-seconds!
I have a pile of spare parts bought on E-bay......I got 3-pairs of rocker boxes for ironheads for $45 with shipping.....Of course they were not show quality but they needed little clean up for use.
It takes alot of patience dealing with the bidding process but in the long run it can save you enough money to get a 12-pack when you otherwise may not have the bucks to get a 6-pack!

If your on a budget and end up wanting drag pipes or plan on doing any mods to the motor the S&S carbs are not as easy as people say they are.

DO NOT BUY THE EDELBROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! please! they are the worst carbs I have ever delt with. I am taking my edelbrock carb off this week. I have not been able to ride my bike properly tuned since I got it. They are very difficult to dial in. They look great but thats about it.

Ok, my opinion is Bendix/Zenith.
Plumb dumb simple to tune and rebuild, dependable & inexpensive to buy & easy to find.
Get one with the adjustable main jet.
