Fixed flat spot on 85 Ironhead
I posted on here last summer about my 85 ironhead i had just picked up. It had a flat spot around 3k rpm and would just sputter out if you tried to go ay faster. i tried everything i could think of and ideas from here. I finally fixed the problem today. i went to remove the carb to rebuild it after trying to adjust it for 6 months with no improvement, and i noticed what appears to be a vacuum nipple on the right lower side of the carb (S&S super e). There was nothing on it. There is one more vacuum nipple on the intake manifold that has a line leading to some type of electronic sensor. I assume the sensor is for timing advance? I plugged the open vaccuum nipple on the carb and went for a ride. It ran better but not perfect. With some fine tuning this thing screams!!!! I am ready to put some miles on now!!!!

super E's are famous for that so called flat spot At 3000 rpm I would say your on the main jet Go up one jet size. S&S did something internally to the E carbs to try to eliminate this This happened after 2002 I think
