basketcase problems

Default basketcase problems

just bought a 68 sportster and am haveing problems getting it running good replaced the timing advance springs got it to idle nice but it would pop out of the carbs at speed re adjusted carbs timing it ran good at speed but when you stop it dies and wont idle i was told this motor and carb have been worked on = punched .030 over p cams carb was jetted and bored pulled plugs and they were full of carbon and gapped at .070 not sure what gap should be but this seems large does anybody know what plugs i should run and what gap any info is greatly appriceated thanks for the help

Plug gap should be between .025 and .030 Harley number 5 was standard, I believe the NGK equivalent was B6L, Champion H8, Autolite ATL4.

check your push rods...I'll bet they are tight....

push rods are correctly adjusted im sure its plugs they were gapped so big that it melted the porcalin on the electrode
thanks for the numbers going to get no plugs and try them out
