how important is the engine brace
i finally put my engine back together.there was a brace from the rear cyl to the frame.i totally forgot about it.i saw it but thought it was from a big truck that had been worked on in the same area.it would be no big deal but i did not use the same bolts in the rocker cover.i used a normal style bolt.i dont beleive it is possible to remove the bolts without removing the head all over again.--------so..how bad of a screwup is this?

Mine was broke when I got it and vibrated real bad. Took it off and had it welded back up and helped alot. Mine is a 79, not sure what yours is, but on mine all I had to do was loosen bolts because the bracket was slotted where it bolted to rocker cover.

its an 81.yeah..thats all i would have had to do but i had the bright idea to replace the bolts.so now i do not have the type of bolts that allows you to screw a nut to the top of the head(dont know the name of this type of bolt----used for attaching cables and such...and evidently hd braces)
youres is placed directly on the rocker boxes...or on top of the bolt?
