Does anyone know if an automotive starter seloniod will fit my 78? If so any part numbers anyone could offer? Mine just craped out and really hoped to ride this weekend.
I just took it apart and opened it up and there was a wire that had a pig tail screwed to it under the cover and that pig tail is broken off. The seloniod also smells hot. I take it to mean that that seloniod may not be able to be repaired. Any thoughts?
But that doesn't fix your need to ride this weekend. The only thing I can suggest is to just take it up to Autozone or O'reilly's (which ever is the nicest and more willing to work in your area) and see if they have an accel or similar brand solenoid that looks the same. It's very likely they will. It will just take them a few minutes of looking around to see if they have it.
